IFB faults we see most often

• Door won't lock or won't open: front loaders don't start until the door lock confirms it is shut, and won't release it while water is in the drum. A worn lock or a blocked drain is usually the cause.
• Water not draining: coins, hair clips and lint collect in the drain filter behind the small panel at the bottom front. We clear it and test the drain pump.
• Loud rumbling during spin: worn drum bearings, common on machines several years old. Replacing them means opening the tub, which our technician can do at home.
• Water not heating, or the machine trips the power: IFB front loaders heat water in the drum, and hard Chennai water scales the heater until it fails.
• Display errors or the machine stops mid-cycle: often a water-supply or pressure-sensor problem, sometimes the control board.
• Door gasket leaking or smelling: detergent and lint trapped in the rubber seal; cleaned or replaced.

What we check on an IFB visit

The drain filter and pump, the inlet valve and its filter, the door lock and gasket, the heater, the drum for play in the bearings, and any error on the display. We run a short cycle before and after the repair.

Keeping an IFB front loader healthy

• Clean the drain filter every month or two.
• Use front-load detergent, in the amount the machine needs.
• Leave the door open after washing so the gasket dries.
• Run a hot drum-clean cycle with descaler every few months if you use borewell water.
